Montekristo Animal Park

This Animal Park and Playground is a great place to spend a few hours with your young ones - loads of greenery, on-site restaurants, a variety of animals, and multiple playgrounds mean there is something for children off all ages.

Usually only open on weekends and public holidays, so be sure to check their Facebook page before heading out.

Although there's an entrance fee of €5 per person over the age of 5, the food and drinks are priced lower than you may expect.

Finally, a few things to watch out for (where hopefully the venue will improve):

1. Despite being a child-focused venue, we've always encountered a severe lack of high chairs. It seems that multiple restaurants share a limited number of highchairs. It usually requires a substantial amount of insisting before a member of staff will (reluctantly) go to one of the other restaurants to fetch a highchair.

2. The venue itself usually closes around 18:00, but for some reason the kitchen seems to close at 16:30.

3. Most of the walkways are paved with gravel. While this may be great for avoiding muddy walkways during rain, our experience has seen either children throwing stones at each other, or trying to eat the gravel - maybe not the most practical choice.

In summary, this is a good place to spend a few hours - however, with a few simple changes from management, we believe it could make for an exceptional day out.
